30th Apr 2010- Chamber opposed to split time zone
Sixty percent of members of the Gladstone Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) are opposed to daylight savings in Gladstone, and nearly all members oppose splitting the state into two time zones, according to a recent survey.
The Chamber Vice President Jackie Miller said that while there is 40% support for daylight savings, many members feel having two time zones in Queensland would severely inconvenience local businesses.
"I think it's important to remember that we need to make doing business easier, not harder," Mrs Miller said.
The Chamber conducted the survey of its members after the Queensland Premier, Anna Bligh, asked for feedback on splitting Queensland into two time zones following the issue being raised in the Queensland Parliament.
The simplification argument seems to be behind much of the 40% support for daylight savings with one member saying, "Either the whole state does it or not. I would prefer to have daylight savings just to keep in line with other states."

Training will be available for anyone wishing to participate.
Obviously there will be other procedures and protocols that we'll need to follow, i.e. Blue Cards etc, however at this stage we are calling for expressions of interest.
If you are interested in coming on board please contact Jackie Miller on 0429 724 809 for more information.
