This award honours an inspirational business leader, aged 36 or over as of July 1, 2026, who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to their workplace, industry, and community through outstanding leadership and mentorship. It celebrates individuals who not only excel in their professional roles but also play a pivotal role in the growth and development of others, their industry, and the broader community.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for this category, the individual must be a business owner or have held a senior management or executive-level position within their organisation for a minimum of 12 months at the time of entry.

Judging Criteria:
The Best in Business judges will consider the following when judging excellence in this category:

•  Leadership – Demonstrates strong leadership qualities through the ability to lead, influence, and inspire others. This includes strategic decision-making, accountability, and the ability to drive organisational success while fostering a positive and high-performing workplace culture.

• Achievements – Demonstrates measurable success through specific outcomes, accomplishments, and contributions to their organisation, business, or industry. This may include sustained business growth, innovation, industry recognition, or long-term impact.

• Strategic Vision & Innovation – Shows the ability to think strategically and implement forward-thinking ideas, approaches, or solutions. This includes driving innovation, identifying opportunities for growth, and positioning their organisation for long-term success.

• Resilience & Leadership Through Challenge – Demonstrates the ability to lead effectively through challenges, uncertainty, or change. This includes navigating complex situations, making informed decisions under pressure, and maintaining stability and direction for their organisation.

• Community & Industry Impact – Actively contributes to the local community and/or industry. This may include leadership within industry groups, community involvement, advocacy, or creating a positive impact beyond their immediate business.

• Mentorship & People Development – Demonstrates a strong commitment to developing others through mentorship, leadership, and support. This includes building capability within their team, supporting emerging leaders, and contributing to workforce development.

• Inclusiveness & Accessibility – Demonstrates a commitment to inclusive leadership practices by fostering equitable, respectful, and accessible environments. This includes supporting diversity and ensuring opportunities are accessible to a broad range of individuals.
